I watched as she walked across the lawn with her date and thought to myself as i watched the eager parents snapped photos and fix bowties and bra straps.. "wow, wasn't that long ago when i was changing diapers and going on class field trips."  It hit me right there that my role as her father is changing in her life..the bass in my voice don't intimidate her as much any more..so now i find myself having to reason with her more cause i said so don't work that much any more..i was tired and ready to cut out and go home and relax.. Seems like i waited too long to find her a prom dress cause every gown shop in NJ was packed with teenage girls the whole damn weekend..and of course she tried on dozens of dresses and i had to act like a kid with a box of cracker jacks every time she came out of the dressing room.. and as it would be, every damn beauty salon was packed with teenage girls the whole weekend.. i fell asleep in the batmobile until midnite and she had the nerve to come out with attitude cause she didn't like her hair.. and do you know the next morning the little heifa took the french twists out!!..so i turn around and get ready to jet back to the crib as the kids get in the Escalade limo when i hear her call me, "Daddy!!"  i turn and she is trying to run holding up her dress and twisting her ankles in the heels as she rushes over to me.. I reach for my secret stash i keep in my wallet cause i know what's up..she runs up and kisses me on the cheek and hugs me.. "Thanks Dad for making this day special for me.  You always got my back..I love you"  "Love you too babygirl."  i hand over my secret stash and get outta there before i punk up.. Ya'll know i put so much sto in that girl...(sniff)

They do grow up rather quickly.  She is beautiful.

She is sooooo beautiful!!! ....and  you are a wonderful Dad to have done all that you have done as a single parent.  You know I can relate.  As much as you are happy to see them growing up, you can't help but feel that the time is slipping away too quickly and soon they will be gone.  Next....is a wedding dress!

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...

WOW!!

First of all she is a beautiful young lady.  You should be proud!  Then...........Hats off to you Dad!!  Your story that you share brings a much needed layer of comfort and hope for all of us single moms who yearn for that kind of attention to be showered upon our children.  Sure we are there for them 24-7 as most moms tend to do, but we can never ever give them that validation and love that a real father brings to the table.  It shapes her opinion of men for her future choices, because no man will ever measure up to you in her eyes!

So..........Donnieboy.............Big Ups to You!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY...

You done good!!
